In June 2025, as part of STRATEGUS training and knowledge-transfer activities, Enrico Fraccaroli designed and delivered the 12-hour PhD course “Cyber-Physical Systems in Industry 4.0: Modeling, Networks, and Intelligence” at the University of Verona.
The course introduced PhD students to several research topics at the core of STRATEGUS. It covered digital twins and different modeling strategies, dynamics-aware optimization for flexible manufacturing, timing analysis and communication patterns in cyber-physical systems, and distributed intelligence for resource-constrained platforms.
The lectures combined theoretical foundations with practical case studies and live demonstrations. STRATEGUS research results, including the FlexMan scheduling approach, were used to illustrate how continuous physical dynamics can be integrated into optimization and manufacturing-system design.
The course is part of the project’s broader effort to transfer the knowledge developed during the fellowship to a new generation of researchers and engineers.
